Developing Nations Committee

Projects and Events

Development of the Profession

Recognizing that a well governed national accountancy body is an essential component of a country's financial infrastructure, the Developing Nations Committee proactively works to support the development of the profession worldwide. As part of its development efforts, it supports the work of the Member Body Compliance Program, which encourages high quality auditing, accounting, ethical, and educational standards and related quality assurance and investigation and disciplinary programs in countries worldwide.

Collaboration with Donors

Through collaboration and close contact with donors, beneficiaries and contractors alike, the Developing Nations Committee seeks to help:

  • Identify development needs;
  • Identify useful common tools and reduce duplication of effort; and
  • Facilitate and contribute to development work.

The Developing Nations Committee has directly assisted donors in a variety of capacities. For example, the committee regularly assists and supports the World Bank with its implementation of the Reports on the Observance of Standards and Codes program and has also provided advice and assistance to the United States Agency for International Development with its Certified International Professional Accountant-Ukraine project.

For more information on how IFAC works with donors, see the brochure: Developing Accountancy Capacity Worldwide.
